Microsoft cash on hand - most of any company in the world. Sony cash on hand - not even top 10

means nothing for gaming, xbox is limited by how few consoles it has sold.

This is a ridiculous statement. Microsoft is the most powerful company in the world.

They can if they decide to invest 10 times as much as Sony on first party games without even breaking a sweat. If the calculus last gen was exclusives move consoles guess what Microsoft is investing in this gen.

Don't pay attention to these fags, they'll never decouple Sony's other business ventures and gladly tabulate their total sum as a company, but Microsoft?

no they can't, because they'll never recoup the investment because no one will buy said game, as no one has said console.

sony is the market leader and that's why they get all the 3rd party marketing deals, exclusives, and can afford to make big budget games. they can sell to 110 million potential customers and MS can only count on 40.

really, the sales of a console are everything. It doesn't matter what MS is worth, for instance if they ever wanted to get Call of Duty map packs back they'd have to pay activision 3x as much as what sony is paying them.

And they don't do that, even though microsoft has more money as you say. they'll never recoup the costs on their paltry userbase, and activision will gain nothing, and lose 66% of their customers in the process.

microsoft can't do shit until they sell more consoles.

Neither company has guaranteed sales it's all reset every gen. Consumers can go either way

Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 for the whole gen up until like the last few months, and did it without even really breaking into the European and Asian markets.

It's all about the initial excitement from the go and the sustained exclusives later on.

don't underestimate how disatrous the Xbox One reveal was for the brand as a whole, it's literally carried that stink for almost a decade now and it isn't going anywhere any time soon. There's also a host of other problems that have arisen this gen:

Xbox is known for having a shit 1st party, and no exclusives. the perception of the brand is that it's vastly inferior to playstation on the games front. That's a real thing, not a forum or internet fanboy thing.

moreover, the xbox has never, and will never gain a foothold in asian markets and most of europe. it's sold so few systems and is basically an unknown brand in some of these parts.

what you're essentially praying for is a miracle, and since we already see how XSX is fairing against PS5 (not well, the PS5 controller eclipsed the whole XSX reveal) we can make an educated guess that things are going to remain largely the same, Playstation being roughly 3x as popular worldwide, and still getting the majority of the support industry wide. :jasonj:

Don't need a miracle just need a repeat of last gen and a slightly larger push towards other markets.

They're clearly not using any of that money to invest in good first party games.

Not yet

But they easily can if they choose to

why is this a thing, why would microsoft take money from office, microsoft word, etc. and say hey, let's make a new game for the xbox division with this!

It's delusions, nothing more.

Microsoft has the ambition to dominate the gaming space next gen and seems to be doing everything to make that a reality.

Because it's immensely profitable to be in that position especially with game pass which has been a cash cow already.

Amazon and Apple has more cash on hands than Sony and Nintendo fellas. Which obviously means they have better games too.

Alphabet has the third most. Stadia should’ve ran away with the industry by this logic. :mj:

according to vini it’s just a matter of them choosing to. Clearly Google just didn’t want Stadia to succeed and chose not to be successful. :drake:

From a distant third? You also think Xbox has better brand recognition than Google? :danylol:
