Shit picks.

I would have gone Open wheeler or something more robust.

That Fanatec wheel is ok.

The loadcell brake pedal is a must.

But you don't need a clutch if you have no shifter.

For the price i thought it looked pretty damn robust considering the bottom frame is 160x40 aluminum.

5-8nm seems good for a 12 year old,  don’t want his arms getting injured lmao

Still on fence about getting a shifter.

figured i will some day,  it’s out of stock for a month anyway

clutch was cheap enough not to care if I never end up using it

Might as well teach your son how to drive in a PC sim using shifter and clutch.

Just don't get him into Formula 1.

Mexicans in Formula 1, no no no.

That CSL DD is a gimmick.

I have the CSL elite from two years ago and it produces 6 NMs of torque.

You don't need the adapter to get 8, especially for a 12 year old.

That GT wheel is a gimmick, trust me.

If your son gets into rally, Super GT, stock cars or Formula 1, the rim makes a whole fucking world of difference.

Oh I know I’ll be getting at least 1 more wheel for that DD Base.  (Xbox buttons)

How is the CSL DD a gimmick ?

or do you mean the booster is a gimmick

The CSL DD is an extremely nerfed DD1 for a third of the price. It comes with no display screen and 5 NMs of torque with no adapter, and 3 extra NMs with the adapter.

From what I understand, the CSL DD was made to replace the CSL Elite 1.1 servo which makes 6 NMs of torque by itself.

I was talking about the booster being a gimmick.

5 NMs is enough for a 12 year old.

Have him get used to the torque of the base CSL DD and then if he gets serious, upgrade to a DD1 or DS2.

Just bare in mind about the torque when buying a rig.

5 NMs will be enough for that rig but 12 NMs from the DD1 and it will shit all over it.

I would have gone with a Clubsport rim instead of an official GT branded product though.

But for something introductional is good I guess.

Like I said, you don't need a clutch if you don't have a shifter.

The loadcell brake kit is a must regardless.

However play around 20% with brake resistance or else your son won't be able to press hard enough on the brake.

Also, be very careful with the wheel rotation.

Fanatec gear is not weak toy material like Logitech.

There is a reason some people get a kill switch with them.

I don't think you'll need it with the CSL DD but still.
