Yea I'm going to be honest. I'm probably not as far as you guys are, but this game is like a rollercoaster. For every awesome thing, there's some other thing that nags on me a bit. I feel like maybe I was just being too judgmental for small things, but they kinda just add up. I'm probably sitting around an 8/10 as it is right now... but still more to go. I don't think this game is putting Elden Ring in any danger of losing my personal GOTY award though. We'll see how it ends though.

It's honestly stupidly powerful. I don't even use DLSS2 or 3 unless I know that the image actually looks better than native.. because it's simply not necessary with current games. This thing completely fucking chews through them.

The game was tailored for next gen platforms, but is quite heavy. They probably didn't want to push things much further, so higher quality assets and textures were never made. The FPS dips pretty hard even on PC due to the CPU during the rat setpieces.. but they've been improving that so it's not so bad. They'll probably continue to work away at it, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them add a 1080p/60fps mode to the consoles if they get it close enough.

You have to give some of these studios SOME creative freedom to try new things. If anything, I'd say this is GamePass permitting Obsidian and others to try new things... and that's only healthy for the teams overall. Of course that's not to say their studio management is any good... I basically think as long as they leave studios like Obsidian, Id Software, Double Fine, and others alone... they'll work fine on their own.

Honestly... what the fuck were they thinking having the NPC completely fucking spoil every puzzle you do. *JUST regain control of the character after being presented with a puzzle* "Hey maybe we should do this!" *IMMEDIATELY after* Fuck right off And I'll also say this... some of the dialog is just weird.. and sounds all wrong in the context of the game. Still an awesome game, but god damn.. I'm going to fully break it down once I finish it, but there's definitely some real issues with this game that knock it down.

I skimmed it, and it's probably a bit of all 3. Our tastes change as we grow older, we develop an ear for specific music cues, and when we don't hear them it sounds messy, and the mixing was definitely off on that performance. I don't think it speaks to anything about the music as a whole... it's always been this way. Our parents considered the stuff we listened to when we were younger as "noise"... and that's basically what a lot of this sounds like to us now that we're older.

Ah, so the console versions aren't worth the full price huh? Not even with the comfy couch aspect? Big OLED TV? Not even the bug free gameplay? Not the better visuals and performance? It's a good step up over the original especially in the lighting.

Let's just put it this way. God of War Ragnarok would be considered one of the best looking games out today, regardless of "last gen/current gen"... and in many ways, this smaller team, with lesser budget... made something very comparable, at least on a more surface level inspection. Of course God of War is better in animations and other areas... and of course it runs at 2x+ the framerate ... but I'm talking visually here.. it's impressive what Asobo has done with their own proprietary engine here.

These graphs are ALWAYS so fucking stupid... because they JUST count GamePass... when MS has Xbox Live Gold subscriptions as well.. And in that case, when you add them both... it has more overall than both Switch and PS5.
