Twinblade★ 3,946
finished s3 of For All Mankind. This show does so many great things, its just too bad it gets bogged down by so many soap opera quality storylines filled with woke politically driven writing.

Spoiler i did get a chuckle when she came out as gay. A republican president doing that IRL would be hilarious.

Twinblade★ 3,946
Rings of Power is stunning. It really is like watching a new big budget LOTR movie.
-GD-X★ 7,765
Collateral is still one of Tom Cruise’s best flicks. My folks hadn’t seen it, so we watched it tonight. They loved it. Now that I’ve been learning a lot about film color-grading, I was able to truly marvel over Mann’s mix of subtle desaturation of warmer tones and over saturation of cooler colors. The parts that are meant to be colorful really pop! Fucking goals! 1

The guy playing Larry knocked it out of the park, I legit felt unsettled by the way he would casually describe the shit he did. Very good series overall.

Twinblade★ 3,946
I was bored enough that I watched Where the Crawdads Sing. Im surprised critcs panned this movie, its relatively well made and gives off the oscar bait vibe that they would be all over.

Its also jarring watching a big budget fantasy series nowadays thats tame enough to be a PG/PG-13 production. Other than that its good.

The parts that are meant to be colorful really pop! Fucking goals! its pretty amazing what he was able to accomplish with first-generation digital camera tech when he made that movie. A night movie, filmed with some of the earliest digital film cameras, back in 2004. And maybe post-processing helped clean up some of that stuff. I remember reading a reddit or youtube comment about the scene where Tom Cruise kills those street punk thieves. How they got the gun sound so accurate in that scene. If you are watching in your home theater, the gun sound in the left channel speakers will reverberate for longer, because that shootout occurred with a concrete parking garage on the left side and the right side was an open fence area. And they accurately had the proper echo texture for gunshots as it reverberates off of concrete. So what you hear is the echo of a gunshot against concrete, and the echo goes upwards along the length of the parking garage building. I also remember reading some guy who was in film school saying that what Michael Mann was doing with Heat back in 1995 with filming at night was considered revolutionary at the time. His new book just came out, the sequel to Heat. And I really hope he starts filming that quickly, after he finishes his Enzo Ferrari movie that he's currently filming in Italy. Obviously I've been posting about the 80's Michael Mann movies these past few months. Thief. Manhunter. Fucking amazing movies on their own.
