My raspberry pi3 I kept at 1080i resolution ghosted my 32" Dell monitor.  I kept it at that res to keep the device compatble with my first HDTV 30" Samsung CRT from 2005.  Luckily it wasn't permanent and  I doubt those switch  owners are as well unless they using ancient Plasma or DLP rear projector HDTVs that are known for burn-in.   I installed the flurry screensaver (popularized by Mac OS X) on my system and used that to clean up the ghosting effect.
