This isn't a replacement for Xbox, it's an addition to it, to hit the markets outside of it that it's not capable of reaching. It's not about not needing to purchase an Xbox, it's for people that don't play consoles, who don't play PC's, for those that want simplified mobile gaming without needing to purchase hardware and in select instances for those who do to take their games on the go from home. You seem to forget that this isn't even going to be in beta until an undisclosed time in 2019, when's the likely rollout for this then? Probably 2020, what's also likely to roll out in 2020? Yep, a new Xbox.

 

You're far too enamored with the Xbox One, you're far too short sighted to realize they now have like 15-16 game studios in production that are going to continually leap frog, you're far too slow to understand that xCloud isn't going to live and die based upon Microsoft's games alone, it's dedicated hardware capable of any Xbox One game operation. When the next Xbox rolls out you guessed it, they're without a shadow of a doubt going to update their blades to account for it. 

 

You think the Switch is something special, you forget 5G is rolling out, data caps on phones continually get larger, some are already unlimited and this is spreading further and faster than ever. You forget that they're building mobile controls into the app so you don't need a controller, you forget that they're building mobile add on controllers, you're forgetting that you can use an existing controller, you're forgetting that this service can function anywhere and everywhere. 

 

Something like this neuters the Switch, it might not neuter Nintendo's games but it's not like they're doing the greatest job getting big names out there in a timely fashion. The Switch's biggest contribution to gaming has been bolstering the Wii U's library and portability, so old games and what's more portable and on you at all times than your phone? Nothing. 

 

 

When you have the opportunity to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 on your cell phone do you actually think something like the Switch is going to be a talking point? Fuck no. Time to start sweating.

Didn't say XCloud was replacing the Xbox hardware next gen (it eventually will... but not next gen) ... I said it gives consumers who don't own an Xbox even less of a reason to purchase an Xbox.

It's going to be especially a threat when insiders and everyone with a brain says it will come to Switch because it has a huge user base and isn't a competitor at least directly. The benefits of Switch will be huge.
