The Outer Worlds is coming to switch

Recommended Posts

MS acquired this studio in 2018.

In the announcement video this same studio that is not a part of Microsoft makes the announcement of a Switch port that will come out AFTER launch. AKA sometime in 2020.

So this studio that is now Microsoft made the announcement..... but somehow this has nothing to do with Microsoft :lemming:

"Nothing to do with Microsoft'

Well if they just keep it on Xflop then it will sell maybe a couple hundred thousand.  On PC,  switch , ps4 and xflop probably a couple million.    Ms is 3rd party

double fine - B Team locked into a multiplat

Compulsion - B Team locked into a multiplat

obsidian - B Team locked into a multiplat

Any day now and we'll be hearing of bleeding edge coming to other platforms.

Outer wilds - Switch announced after MS acquisition

Hellblade - Switch Announced after MS acquisition

Cuphead Switch - Signed off on by MS

Super Lucky's Tale Switch - Signed off on by MS

At the very least we can all see that MS is going in and hand delivering every single game they have to Switch.  All I'm saying is, this is just the begin ning. get ready for what's next. :D

Because it's their game but another studio is handling it for obvious reasons, Take-Two greenlit it at some point in time. Microsoft's involvement with Obsidian only goes back to the end of 2018, this game goes back to 2016 and likely even earlier.

The Switch ports doesn't go back to 2016..stop the foolishness.

Switch was not part of the original plans for this game.

Not only was the Switch port not even in the plans when they announced the game's release date at the GAME Awards back in December 2018......but they didn't announce it at two major events during 2019:

1.) Obsidian had a gameplay demo, and extensive gameplay demo at PAX East in March 2019. Why wouldn't they announce it then?

2.) This thing called E3, why didn't they announce it 7 weeks ago?

Why would they be announcing this less than 90 days from their PS4/XBO/PC release date?

...........because they saw the pre-order numbers and panicked.

I doubt they panicked from 3 platform pre order numbers and said , the only thing that will save us is a late , watered down Switch port !!

Switch saved MK11 from slumping Xbox sales. We all witnessed it from the Amazon best-seller rankings.

Outer Worlds is not an evergreen game, whatever money they were expecting to make, it was going to happen at launch. Once launch week passes, this becomes a $15 game in the bargain bin at Best Buy.

Now your making stuff up.  Tell me the final MK numbers . Not initial Amazon sales,  lmao

And what does your second paragraph have to do with anything ?

Get back to the pub panicking from 3 platform sales numbers Haha idiot .

They're so stupid lol, they laughed at Xbox sales of MK11 against Switch for the UK charts because it outsold it by like 8% or something but failed to realize it was the third week of Xbox sales for the game while being the first for Switch, and when both first weeks were compared the Xbox version sold like quadruple what it did on Switch.

If the Switch port of this game goes back to 2016 the Switch version would be releasing same time as the others.

If it was also part of the original plan... it would have been announced at the same time as well.

e3 was just last month.... they showed the game.... NO Switch announcement

Instead... the Switch version got announced less than 90 days before the release on Xbox and PS4.

It also got announced over a year after Microsoft acquired the dev and will be released in 2020 (MS acquired them in 2018)

Bbbut it has nothing to do with MS:lemming:

No one is saying 2016, that is the earliest information about the game itself. What is being said which you're obtusely glossing over is the order of development surrounding something like this.

Also another thing you keep doing is ignoring months from years (and you do this a lot) to extend time and make it seem as if a date for something is further back, they were acquired in November of 2018, 8 months ago, not over a year ago.

Now you're trying to split hairs.

Point is.. this Game was announced long after the MS acquisition.

and will released more than a year and a half after the acquisition.

Its not initial Amazon sales, it was weeks and weeks afterwards, the Switch version always remained higher than the XBO version.

The publisher clearly is panicking. If they weren't, this would've been planned far enough in advance to make the Switch version have the same release date, or this would've been announced months after launch like Hellblade.

8 months isn't "long after" and as stated for a third party doing the port and reconstruction of something it's no doubt easier to have a near complete version of the game to work with than queried chunks. If you're not going to handle the development it doesn't make any sense to have a third party company tied up until absolutely necessary.

Virtuous is the same company who did Dark Souls: Remastered, remember what happened there? They were all announced in unison, and released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in May of 2018 and then 5 months later in October for Switch. They neared completion on their work on the PC, PS4 and Xbox versions of the games because they were all essentially the same build with mild differences and then QLOC took on their contrasting efforts of porting to Switch version even though it was known at the exact same time as the others that it was also coming to Switch.

It's the easiest order of development, this is basically that exact same scenario with a different announcement time table. This game coming to Switch obviously pre-dates anything Microsoft related, this isn't a spur of the moment decision, this was a decision made long ago which is wheels in motion now due to primary development drawing to a close so it can be handed off for Switch porting.

Why wouldn't they make the announcement? He's the senior producer of the game.

I know exactly what you're trying to do here and it's dumb. Just because he is now primarily employed by Microsoft and the studio is owned by them doesn't mean he/they are also not contracted by Take-Two. He's making this statement and announcement on the behalf of Take-Two for their game in which Obsidian is developing and has been for at least the last three years.

One does not cancel the other out.
