If the 360 was the Genesis, Xbox One is definitely the SEGA Saturn.

XBOX ONE like It's SATURN ancestor was meant to compete head on with it's SONY rival, but instead the console got thumped hard and is only seemly alive primarily in its home country.

When the original PlayStation destroyed Saturn from the time of it's price announcement to the interview press in '97 from then Sega of America President Bernie Stoler that Saturn wasn't the companies future, the Saturn's games practically dwindled hard and nearly dried up by 1998.  Games were only getting produced for Saturn in Japan for the remainder of it's life.

Doesn't this parallel much with the Xbox One, the console got thumped by the PlayStation 4 and is largely surviving mainly in it's home country America.

Change my mind on this.

I think people in general underestimate its reach globally, it's no PlayStation 4 but I highly doubt the hyperbolic narrative from most.

The shit is on track for 50 million, the Sega Saturn didn't even sell 10 million. While the Saturn had a decent life in Japan it had almost zero localization of those games which is something the Xbox One doesn't share.

It's apples to oranges.

thats like saying xbox is doing good because it's still in business, while other platforms are praised for their games.

xbox is bought by accident by clueless parents in europe other than that there are piles of special offers nobody wants
