Dark Alliance - 96% of physical copies sold split between PS4/5, Xbox Series accounts for only 4% - UK

It’s not unusual to see the physical sales of new releases skew heavily in favour of PlayStation in the UK, but the emergence of Xbox Game Pass is making the splits ridiculous. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, which launched in Britain last week, generated 54 per cent of its boxed copy sales on PS5 and a further 42 per cent on PS4 – that’s 96 per cent in total.

It means that just four per cent of physical copies in the UK were sold on Xbox platforms, an unprecedented split between console families.

Very true but don't forget how much Phil and Xbox use to say that GP actually boosts game sales :drake:

It matters when retailers start reducing shelf space for Xbox when it only brings in 4% of game sales

Unfortunately this is the future. It's digital entertainment, discs are fading fast.

To the people using Netflix as an example of gamepass, look at what happened there. The biggest studios pulled out to maximize their catalogs.

If the numbers don't work for game makers why would they waste their time having their sales cannibalized?

That's why MS has been buying studios to compensate for that eventuality.. or they add their own service to it like EA play.
