I didn't even finish it. I dropped it after like 8 or so hours. Felt way too safe and samey. Which is a shame because I liked the first game but the sequel was a huge letdown for me.

I did everything. Didn't they claim this game would be 80 hours to 100%?
So that was a lie. My playtime was barely over 50 hours.
Hard to enjoy the side quests when the game literally dumps them on you in large chunks instead of spacing them out. Writing can't save stale quest design especially when there is an abundance of these stale quests.
Things I liked? Hmm... I liked Cid and Beneditka but- and that's a HUGE but- it's hard for these two to carry the game because Lord knows Bootleg Belmont and Lamer Tifa ain't doing it. It's bad when random NPCs are more interesting than your lead characters.

Better version on Switch 2 and dual portable and TV experience.
Not enough of a incentive to justify double dipping.

No. No point, PS5 is BC.

How the hell is it tiring?

LOL, well... that was certainly one of the most flaccid endings I've seen in a game. Somehow fitting for the game though because thats what the whole game is- flaccid.
One thing this game has made clear for me is that CBU 3 is overrated as fuck and I will be skeptical on anything they do in the future. This isn't the worst FF game and sure, I guess it's technically better than previous entries. But it's the only FF game that's left me feeling a whole lot of... nothing.
I have never been this unimpressed with a game before. A good game will make me feel something, a bad game will make me feel something, but this game? Just... nothing.

Waloed is so fuckin' wasted in this game LOL... It's like the writers completely forgot about the nation and then went, "Oh shit! QUICK, JUST CRAM IT ALL IN THERE!"
The entire arc just feels so sloppily put together and rushed. Honestly, the 2nd half of this game in general is just awful. Star Ocean is a better game than this and that game suffered a similar issue with its 2nd half but it's nowhere near as bad as FF XVI.
I'm at the end and this game is so average at its best and so terrible at its worst. I feel like giving this game a 6/10 is being generous.

This kind of shit is fucking awful for resellers. Gosh, I think I would just refuse to buy Xbox Series X games. Not to mention, even if all the content is on the disc, most games have day one patches and are still buggy, so what's on the disc is basically a beta full of bugs.
Didn't even consider this, you make a good point. Just goes to show how far down the shitter Quality Assurance has become when games are being shipped in broken and unfinished states and its considered 'normal'. We really need something like the Nintendo Seal of Approval from back in the day to be implemented.
Devs have become too comfortable with the "ship it and fix it later" mentality. Consumers don't help either, pre-ordering definitely plays a hand in the Devs getting too comfortable to begin with.

Sea of Stars got them feels I’m assuming I’m in the home stretch. I’m a little over 20 hours in.
Yeah, you're near the end. The game is around 25 or so hours. Probably close to 40 if you do everything. That's one of many things I enjoyed about Sea of Stars- it doesn't overstay its welcome.
Unlike FF XVI, they took a 15 hour game and are trying to stretch it out for as long as possible... The 2nd half of this game has just been awful and the story has devolved into the stale as fuck "Free Will vs. Fate" bullshit I've seen a thousand times.

Playing through FF XVI right after Sea of Stars just makes me appreciate Sea of Stars so much more. I was already high on Sea of Stars, I think it's great. A legit 8/10.
But the juxtaposition between it and FF XVI just really highlights how great of a JRPG Sea of Stars truly is. It's not even a competition, when it comes to being a JRPG Sea of Stars is leagues above FF XVI.
Hell, I think FF XVI is such a bad JRPG its making me look at Octopath Traveler II differently and got me thinking, "Damn, maybe I was too hard on you".
I'm definitely going to have to give Octopath Traveler II a second chance.

117 GB patch? What in the actual fuck.
-
Sheesh... FF XVI is seriously like 70% cutscenes/talking and 30% gameplay. The gameplay that is present is basic as fuck.
The combat system is so mid, the level design is linear as fuck, the quest design is formulaic as hell, the RPG systems are nonexistant, and to top it all off- the game is brain dead easy.
I didn't have high expectations to begin with but this is so much worse than I thought it would be.

It's because at first it was a mess.
Then it turned into an online space MMO where you just gather resources.
That just sounds awful.

"About the destination, not the journey".
LOL that's a nice way of saying it's shallow as fuck.

The Director for this game is the same guy behind the Senran Kagura series.
An MP focused game created by the guy who created low tier Action games.

So my brother bought me this for birthday because he knows I'm a FF fan, knows I recently got a PS5, and knows I don't have the game. What he didn't know was that I didn't have the game because I don't have much interest in playing the game.
After all the shit I've dumped on this game... I now feel kind of obligated to play it.
Talk about karma.

It's not a game which requires 60fps at all man. 30fps is fine for a game of this type. I would not pass it up based on that. Just set it to quality mode and enjoy the game.
But I guess if you're not THAT interested in it to begin with and got other games you want to play, then alright.
It can't even maintain 30 FPS in Performance mode though. It drops frequently.

You still enjoying sea of stars? About to fire it up
Yeah. It has some rough parts here or there but it's overall quality has been pretty consistent. The 8/10 scores are seeming very spot on.

Had a feeling the game would run like shit on PS5. Oh well, I just wanted to try it out of curiosity. I didn't have a strong need to play the game. I'll just play something else.
-
Its MP focused and reeks of gacha. No thanks.

Wait, people actually expected EVERY planet to have something of significance? I love to shit on Bethesda but that's an unrealistic expectation.

Keep making action games disguised as RPG you fucking morons at Square Enix.
Guys, everyone is buying turn based RPG Baldur's Gate 3 instead. How is that possible?
Problem with this approach is they don't even know how to make a good action game. Nier and SoP are their best offerings but they didn't make those.

I enjoyed Like a Dragon. Everything else on that list is whatever but 500 bucks for all of that is a good deal.

Hitler was like legit into occult shit, wasn't he? Like REALLY into it.
So I'm assuming this game is going to be tapping into that.

Yeah, they definitely dropped the ball. Avoiding spoilers but having it happen within the first 10 hours of the game was just dumb because it left a very noticeable hole for the rest of the game.
