Expensive. Hell, the damn thing is still expensive even today. I remember I was curious about buying a 3DS XL a couple months ago and was shocked at the prices I was seeing. The prices were around 300 bucks which seems ridiculous. You might as well just buy a Switch at that point.

I thought some of their own engines were pretty good but it seemed like it was really only the Mario team that could really make theirs shine. Silky smooth performance and vibrantly impressive visuals. Just good stuff all around.

Not sure what BotW uses (always assumed it was whatever Monolith Soft uses) but that engine clearly struggles on the Switch.

They've really stepped it up in the animation department. Animation wise this is their best work yet, it honestly looks good. Also, I had a good laugh when Stryker appeared. No idea he was in this game.

Well, I finally decided to try Persona 4 Golden. 

I quit Persona 3 around the point where

and I didn't really care for P5R. However, P4G seems to be pretty widely regarded as most fans favorite so I figured, "Fuck it, if I don't like this one then it's safe to say I just don't like the series".

I have hopes for this one though, out of all of them this one always sounded the most interesting.

 I get the feeling this is going to be the "Witcher 3" of this console gen.

Fighting Games are selling better than they ever did as well. This was another supposed "dead genre". Strive just hit 2.5 million which is insane for the GG series because that series has never managed to come close to even 1 million. DB FighterZ broke 10 million. Tekken 7 and SF V sold like crazy. SF 6 is apparently approaching 3 million and its only been out for a couple months.

I'd like to see Turn Based JRPGs make a proper comeback now. They are supposedly "not in demand" but yet Persona 5 and Dragon Quest XI are widely regarded as the best JRPGs from last gen.

Most likely. A lot of DLC I don't really consider worth it though.

Then again a lot of DLC tends to be stuff like items, costumes, music packs, etc. 

Stuff I can easily go without.

If it's actual content though then I'll usually grab it because they almost always have the Season Pass option which bundles all the DLC together for a discounted price. Nioh DLC, FromSoftware DLC, Characters for Fighting Games, etc.  You know, stuff like that. I find that worth the price.

Ehh, don't really care about prices. Games tend to go on sales a lot sooner than they did back in the day. Don't wanna pay 70 bucks? Wait a couple months and you can grab it for 40. Sometimes cheaper.

I'm not sure how much higher it can go.  I'm thinking 830-850K max... but it would be amazing if it could get to 900K or 1M.

 

And just as a note, Cyberpunk 2077 sold ~7.5M copies day 1 on PC.. and reached 1M concurrent players.  Baldur's Gate 3 is likely around 5M copies already.   

 

Bigger than FF16 on PS5 at launch.. that's for sure.

Not sure if anyone else is looking forward to this game. Didn't care for P5R but I thought Strikers was alright and this game looks interesting so I've been keeping an eye on it. I just heard about the DLC bullshit.

Akechi and Kisume are locked behind DLC.

When I heard that I immediately went "Oh great, that means Personas are definitely going to be locked behind DLC".

Royal did that despite being the "definitive edition" so I guess it should be expected.

But why the fuck are they locking characters behind DLC? Personas being DLC is ehh but not that big of a deal but we're talking about characters here. That's just scummy...

Oh wow, that's a coincidence. I literally just ordered a PS5 barely 5 minutes ago because Best Buy has a good sale going right now. Hearing it'll work well with controller is enough to convince me.

I've never played a Balder's Gate game but if I had a PC I'd be willing to give this one a try. Honestly sounds good and may have that transcendent quality. You know, the kind of game people will play even though they're not really fans of the genre.

I played the first one. You ain't fooling me twice.

As if I'd waste my time with Bethesda crap.

Ehh... I'd say it's been a massive flop so far. Just a lot of PSVR shovelware level of crap. For the actual games:

Anno Mutation had great art direction but the game itself sucked.

Same deal with F.I.S.T.

Lost Soul Aside, AI Limit, Boundary, Evotinction are basically vaporware.

The Online focused games have gone pitch dark so wouldn't be surprised if they were shit canned.

Stellar Blade looks barely average at best.

It's literally only this game and Black Myth that look promising. I don't even think Black Myth is even part of the Chinese Hero Project.

I imagine Sony sent a group of their own engineers to help with development like they normally do for 1st party games. This was a PS5 launch title afterall.

Sea of Stars and Armored Core is all I'm interested in.
