Going back to Tales after Lost Judgement is hard. I realize they’re 2 completely different games but the dialogue and storytelling in Tales is so bad in comparison Im completely unengaged in what’s going on.

wow same thing happened to me a few days ago. i played it all day yesterday and my feeling was "did the story and cutscenes get a lot shittier since the last time i played it?"

still fun but the cutscenes :scared:

  2. Far Cry 6 is alright. I'm liking the new amigos mechanic :ben:  got me a Gator named Guapo helping me shred fools.

I think it's gotten to a point now where PS5 is the obligatory platform of choice for single player FPS for me. Deathloop and now Far Cry 6 have fantastic implementation of triggers/rumble that adds so much to the experience that you don't fully appreciate until it's not there.

Overall the game is more of the same though, but in a new setting and some new tricks. Diggin the new Cuba/Latin america setting. I'd say it works for this franchise because this isn't a yearly or even bi anuual franchise like Assasins creed so it never gets to a sense of fatigue and it helps that what it does, it does extremely well and there isn't very many open-world FPS on the market.

I'd compare it almost something to like Dragon quest. It's going to be years before Dragon Quest XII releases from XI and i already know how the game will play and what kind of story there is just like every single Dragon Quest made.

And that it doesn't highlight where your objectives are. Time to order it.

Yay backtracking for hours looking for a trigger point in an effort to pad length.

This form of outdated game design needs to be taken out back and shot

Beat the game after 54 hours with a completion total of 61.6%. I’ll probably head back at some point to finish up some of the side stories but right now I want to get back to Tales.

The game was great and the story is easily on par with the first game at the very least, though I think this one touches on important themes that will resonate with more people. It’s probably going to be the best video game story this year overall.

They definitely have to make a third game tho. I don’t think the series should go on for as long as Yakuza, but ending as a trilogy with a crazy finale where they go all out would be epic.

I think the first one's personally resonated with me more since Dementia/Alzheimers is always a thing that has scared the shit out of me since when I was younger when my friends grandfather had it and one day the police shot and killed him thinking he was going for a gun even though in the phone call they told him he just wandered off in the middle of the night and he's a 80 something with dementia :|

Both are superb and its intriguing how it casts light on Japans fucked up justice system which I'm not too familiar with but that it mentions that 99.3 percent of all violent crimes in Japan end with a guilty verdict which is fucking outrageous. Seems Japan is even worse than US's justice system in how all they care about is the stats.

You see theres an episode with Kaito as the main charcter as DLC next year? Curious how that's going to go. Since they lost the rights to Yagami im guessing this is going to be the begining of a transition to Kaito as the main character. I kinda hope not. Kaito is boss but he doesnt work as a main. Works better as a supporting

  5. I ended up finishing it last night :mjcry:

I ended up skipping most of the side stuff since I got too much on my plate but I’ll be back for sure especially to complete the gauntlet.

Game was fantastic but a bit too samey to the first. This one fixed a lot of nonsense from the first (like placing more taxis to get around) and earning skill points doesent feel like a grind anymore.

Also maybe it’s just me but I found it almost too easy which is rare for a Yakuza. There was no difficulty spike or anywhere that gave me trouble.

btw I can’t be the only one who thought Soma looks like an Asian mads mikelsen :ben:

I love the cast and stories in these over main Yakuza, the topics are more interesting and actually somewhat educational than just another gang war/betrayal Yakuza story, like dementia in the first and school bullying in this one. I hope they find a way to make a 3rd because they have really good ideas narratively that surpass the Yakuza games imo

  6. Pretty much everything jonb said. Also starting where jonb is at (which is about halfway or a little past halfway) i'd say the game becomes weaker both narratively and in terms of dungeons. The 2nd half isn't just as well designed or interesting as the first half.

The combat system is very good though.

I feel like more so than the previous games this one puts you in a real dilemma where you want to keep doing the main story because it’s damn good, but then all the side content and those storylines are also really damn good so you constantly feel torn on which you should focus on :patrice:

Man you werent kidding. I'm really loving the school stories. Right now I'm helping out the dance club and led my girls to a prelim win :mjcry:

The game is damn good so far overall, the premise so far seems more intriguing than the first as well

The School Stories are really well done and I’ve enjoyed their mini games so far. Not sure how many people are familiar with it but I’m getting serious Great Teacher Onizuka vibes from that mode.

I’ve been working a lot and haven’t had much free time to really get into it but later on today I’ll finally have free time to put some time into it.

This GTO comparison has me stoked. :smoke:
