Teh_Diplomat 2,054
My laptop I bought last month, went up by $100, not 2 days later, and is now sold out. Either stock for was is very limited, or people snatched it up right away; or it's a combination of both factors. But I've since learned there are now 3 things I can never go back on: SSD - I used to have it for the OS, and my primary games, now both drives in this laptop are SSD (one NVMe, the other SATA) and the SATA does great for older TW games that still need to launch gigs of assets, and 512GB is more than enough for 2-3 primary titles that I'm playing at one time. 120hz screen - It's soo much smoother, and easier on the eyes. 16GB of ram - I had 12 Gb's previously (A weird configuration from Best Buy with 1x 8gb & 1x 4gb), but 16 is now the minimum. I played around for a day with 8GB, and it was sluggish on W10.
jehurey 3,308
HEADS UP...........for those serious on building a PC, something major is happening this Tuesday. 14 hours ago, Twinblade said: Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered that board. Be on amazon and newegg this late Monday, early Tuesday. Tech websites are reporting the prices of the B550 motherboards, and are saying that they will go on sale at retailers on June 16th. That's tuesday. I think I should still shop around. Some of those B550 motherboards have all the necessary features and cost $160. So it may be worth it to still shop around. Be on the lookout if newegg or another retailer starts listing them early on Monday. Or after midnight on Monday entering Tuesday.

They may be slightly cheaper but the risk of them being unreliable and malfunctioning is greater.

jehurey 3,308
Fucking newegg decided to put their B550 boards up for pre-order at fucking 7am this Sunday morning, so they all immediately sold out with the exception of ASROCK mobos that nobody wants. I think I've already narrowed it down to a Gigabyte AUROS PRO and a MSI Tomahawk as two B550 motherboards that have two M.2 slots, and they are around $169-$179 if I can find them in stock at amazon or any other authorized retailer. If I could get them at Microcenter, that would be ideal for me.
jehurey 3,308
Gigabyte B550 motherboards have now come into stock to "pre-order" at Newegg. Just search for B550 and it will show you the motherboards. I settled on paying an extra $10 for the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC, which the same exact thing as the $179 AORUS PRO, except it comes with built-in WIFI, just in case I ever want to set it up like that. I am cancelling my Amazon order, because for me the big deal is that the Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE (which is actually considered lower than the "Pro" models) is that it only came with one PCIe 4.0 M2 slot, and this newer mobo comes with two. Should I ever need to add on more storage. Gigabyte B550 Mobos available for pre-order for release date tomorrow: Elite - $159.99 https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b550-aorus-elite/p/N82E16813145214?Description=B550&cm_re=B550-_-13-145-214-_-Product Pro - $179.99 https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b550-aorus-pro/p/N82E16813145215?Description=B550&cm_re=B550-_-13-145-215-_-Product Pro AC - $189.99 https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b550-aorus-pro-ac/p/N82E16813145216?Description=B550&cm_re=B550-_-13-145-216-_-Product Master - $279.99 https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b550-aorus-master/p/N82E16813145217?Description=B550&cm_re=B550-_-13-145-217-_-Product Edited June 15, 2020 by jehurey

JonDnD 2,785
I decided to build a high end pc myself . Not sure exactly yet but I'm looking at something comparable to a rtx 2080 , a high end amd cpu and a fast ssd . My friend told me I could get something like that for 500 dollars

You'd be lucky if it has one actual next-gen feature like SSD storage over 5,000 MB/s.

The second slot shares bandwidth for the PCIe 3.0 4x slot so if you use it you sacrifice the slot. The first slot is connected to the CPU and second the SB. So yeah, 1x4.0 and 1x 3.0 or 2x 3.0.
