Xbox Hardware -13% year on year decline

Recommended Posts

Microsoft's earnings are typically light on details, and these are no exception. The company reports an overall increase in gaming revenue for the quarter of $36 million driven by 5% growth in Xbox content and services, especially third-party content and Game Pass. This was offset by the 13% year-over-year decline in hardware revenue, which Xbox points out was simply due to a lower volume of consoles being sold than this time last year.

We don't have a clear picture on how Xbox hardware revenue over the last year compared to the year prior, nor has Microsoft released numbers on exactly how many Xbox units it's sold so far. But after a surge in sales last year thanks to relaxed supply chains, the last few quarters have been slower. Xbox hardware sales were down 13% in Q2, and then down 30% in Q3.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up Microsoft.

- Company makes shit product

- Shit product doesn't sell

- Company buys out the industry to withold games from other platforms and force people to buy their product.

That's such a Microsoft approach. A lot of companies will try to improve their product to improve sales, but with Microsoft through years of Xbox, Windows, Windows phones, Mixer, Internet explorer etc etc they have barely improved what made their products shit and instead their effort was focused on making competing products worse or held back in some way. Doesn't matter if thwir products are popular like windows/IE, or flops like Xbox, it's always about degrading the other products rather than improving your own, and the world ends up with worse products because of it.

Microsoft truly is the worst company in the world and I wish the worst upon the people running it.

We've seen enough from Netflix, MAX, etc to be skeptical of subscriptions saving the day. I think MS big acquisitions won't drive up subs anywhere near what MS needs, and Xbox is not going to be revived as a console to the level of Xbox 360. If MS wants to be a game publisher, they have to be on Playstation. But I don't think there's anything strategic in MS being a game publisher.

Phil Spencer is just fucking up, and expanding the rot into profitable sectors at MS.
