Eurogamer] Nintendo quietly showed their next Nintendo Switch at Gamescom

Recommended Posts

Developer presentations for Switch 2 took place behind closed doors, Eurogamer understands, with partners shown tech demos of how well the system is designed to run.

One Switch 2 demo is a souped up version of Switch launch title Zelda: Breath of the Wild, designed to hit the Switch 2's beefier target specs. (To be clear, though - this is just a tech demo. There's no suggestion the game will be re-released.)

Switch 2 :wow2:

Super Nintendo Switch :dame:

Updated info*

"Another VGC source claimed that Nintendo showcased Epic’s impressive The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 tech demo – originally released to showcase the power of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2021 – running on target specs for its next console.

The demo is said to have been running using Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technology, with advanced ray tracing enabled and visuals comparable to Sony and Microsoft’s current-gen consoles."

Comparable =/= on par with neither does it mean more powerful than.

Simple means powerful enough to get current gen ports, downscaled of course.

I'm going to buy a so many Switch 1, hundreds of Switch games and make serious profits off the dumbest collectors on the planet (Sheep). :juggle:  Repeat that cycle at the start of every new Nintendo console.

Anyone who believes the Matrix demo rumor is a sap. I pity the fool who gets their hopes up for Switch 2 running UE5's advanced features.

Wait don't you expect that Switch 2 to be more powerful than PS3 but less powerful than PS4? Aka same ballpark as Switch 1? :kaz:

Switch played a shitty looking busted version of Witcher 3. Switch 2 will play a decent version of Witcher 3 on medium settings.

Then there's is no point in having a successor.

Lmfao.  They might as well just keep the orginal Switch genius.  If you think it's going to be such a small increase.

That's not a small increase. It would be the biggest increase for Nintendo in a long time.

Switch 2 will be more powerful than the deck... Its got you so shook :lupe:

I wouldn't care if it was, it's just so obvious that it won't. The proof is the Steam Deck itself. Nintendo would never release a handheld with Deck's compromises to grown adults. A Nintendo handheld needs to be kid-proof, much lighter/smaller, no buzzing fans, at least 3 or 4 hours battery, and cheap.

Even with mobile/ARM efficiencies, an extra year of process node advancement and DLSS, Nintendo cannot produce hardware matching Deck performance while also meeting their specific goals.

There's also deep denial about how far behind Switch 1 was. Look at Apex Legends on that thing compared to PS4 and tell me there isn't huge room for improvement between them.
