The Switch Just Can't Handle Overwatch (Kotaku)

Recommended Posts

With today’s launch of Overwatch on Nintendo Switch, there is officially a worst way to play one of the best games of all time.

Incoming DF video no doubt "while it runs and looks like shit, it's an all around impressive effort" :whoo:

the switch is great for games that focus on art design and don't push a lot of geometry. i tried playing daemon x machina and it looked like a pixelated mess.

also, the joycons are terrible for shooters.

i find jrpgs, srpgs, and side-scrolling games play very well on the switch, though.

Isn't Overwatch entirely "art design"?

That's the recommended, here's the minimum and it's still not even close.

  • CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650.
  • OS: Windows Vista/7/ 8/10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460, ATI Radeon HD 4850, or Intel HD Graphics 4400.
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 30 GB.
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 768 MB.

Clicked on the article expecting a technical analysis..... ok it wasn't that.

Read it to see if it was a review.  It wasn't that either.... ok.

and then there was this gem.

"You have to use a mobile app for voice chat, for starters."    This game doesn't use that, it has native chat support.

How did she play the game and didn't know that? lol

Anyway DF already did a preview of this game, Blizzard chose resolution over framerate.

If it can't hold 30fps then they made the wrong choice and have gone the paladins route and chose 60fps over res.

Its a business they're going to make money off it.

As DF pointed out Paladins runs at 60fps on Switch and is a very similar game to overwatch.   They were disappointed that blizzard chose res instead of a fully dynamic scaler that Paladins uses to maintain 60fps.

"Can it beat Paladins spec?"
