This game is codenamed Assassin's Creed Infinity, according to Bloomberg's sources, and then confirmed by Ubisoft's own statement. The report said Infinity, or whatever final name the game is given if development is seen through to release, will feature multiple settings and "room to expand" in the months and years after launch. Like the appeal of AC games is the time periods, locations, and historical characters. I don't understand how people get excited about spending 40+ hours doing the chores and fetch quests they pad these games out with, so any chance to move away from that into smaller stories or towards a Hitman model sounds fine to me.
