It didn't work with John Linneman, its not going to work with another single member. It doesn't overrule the ENTIRE TEAM making a declaration in an article that all of them co-authored.

The VRR covering up the drops in framerate doesn't cause game breaking immersion. It doesn't stop the fact that they said in non-VRR mode, they preferred the PlayStation. When VRR is keyed on, XJoke will have nothing on the console. Right now, they have the VRR gimmick to themselves.
