  1. However, they are failures with a catch. The catch is that you want to like them, and feel there is no reason you shouldn't like them. After all, the games are huge and do let you do what you want. There is even fantastic atmosphere at times. The games seem to deliver on their promises sometimes. However, this is a complete illusion. The quests are completely mundane and NPCs are boring. The leveling system is awful and there are balance issues with items. Repetitive and glitch-filled world. It's way too shallow. Oblivion deserved a 6.5/10 and Skyrim
  2. I used to do that a lot. The logic is that it's more fun and satisfying to kill/destroy people online, rather than bots. It's very hard to get a single player game right these days. You need to create an immersive world, which is extremely hard to do.
  3. "Is SW the only sane gaming forum?" Uhh, have you seen JimboJones?
  4. I'm not him, but it's hilarious how he owned you so hard that you still mention his name.
  5. That doesn't really make sense to me. What I'm doing is comparing "the best" of those past gens, with supposedly "the best" of these gens. That's completely fair to do. I don't plan to compare the 2.5/10 scoring titles anytime soon - I compare the 9/10 and 8/10s. In other words, those past gens might have had 20 great replayable games a gen. But what I'm saying is that this gen, in 20 years, will have like 0-4.
  6. It was an OK game after all was said and done but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. I'd call Galaxy, Sunshine, and 64 masterpieces. Odyssey made a mistake by abandoning platforming's main role in Mario and focusing on exploration. It felt too easy and casual. I didn't like the world like I love Delfino Plaza, Peach's Castle, or the star hub in Galaxy. It was not a bad game at all, but it just was lacking/disappointing in key areas.
  7. Currently playing SM64 on my PC and having a BLAST. I didn't even like this that much as a kid, so it's not "nostalgia" either. Game's world and mechanics are genuinely charming, creative, and fun. I'll just keep enjoying these classics I guess.
  8. you are playing virtually the same gameplay mechanics. GTA 3 is the basic blueprint for the way GTA 5 plays. SM:Odyssey is a less fun and less challenging version of SM64. BOTW is Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker with open world mechanics. DOTA 2 is literally a 1:1 mapping of DOTA 1. Skyrim is a snowy joke compared to Morrowind's fire (except just the combat is better in Skyrim). What exactly are you playing that makes older games feel outdated? lol
  9. Uhh, no. You are uploading your whole history to some Microsoft-owned server. If I reinstall windows, Chrome will have no way to restore jack shit, unless they got the NSA involved. I had to stop using Brave because some websites stopped loading certain features. When I used it, it was by far the quickest browser I had.
  10. That's still incredibly fishy. That means your whole history is being stored by Microsoft, and someone can gain access.
  11. so you're saying this browser detects and restores your entire previous history, even when you've deleted everything off your computer?
  12. It's scary how much memory/space Chrome uses due to tracking all your cookies. I moved to Brave, an anonymous browser. It worked quickly and perfectly. Problem was, some sites wouldn't let you comment and others wouldn't load certain things just because you were using that browser.
  13. Jimbo thinking he's a poet is as cringe worthy as Aza thinking it's a real woman he's dating.
  14. He was obviously referring to people who refuse to play old games at all and only play new games (a few people like that on this very forum). Not people that simply don't have time.
  15. I see nobody playing a single game from this gen in 10 years, except possibly 1-2 titles from the Switch. Gaming now appeals to the lowest common denominator. It used to be a nectar of the Olympian gods.
  16. Just don't tell these people that, at some point, those "old" games were new. And that at some point, current games will be considered "old.' Difference is people will still play classics like OOT, SM64, Banjo, etc. but won't give a rats ass about Gears of War 7
  17. At least 50% of those speedrunners are cheating or being deceptive. They pre-record the video (after numerous failed attempts), They then use the pre-recorded footage, and add in "live" commentary, as if it's happening live. Some outright use cheats/scripts. Others splice their vids. Many have been caught red handed. This also applies to many video walkthroughs. I watch the videos and find their commentary so cringe because it's designed to clearly "impress" the viewer. It is not a live game being played in most cases.
  18. I've gotten to the point that I play ONLY play games before 2007. Because I know the quality at least will be good/fun/interesting/addicting if it's rated high. Been having a blast on my N64 emulator lately. What's sad is that those of you who will "attack" me for playing 10/20 year old games...don't realize that you are also playing the same thing (rehashes), just with "better" (imo not) graphics. Same gameplay mechanics, same storyline ideas, etc. all rehashed today. The facts speak for themselves. The highest seller on STEAM is a 15 year old PS2 game (persona 4)
  19. it's not "so bad it's good." It's just good. Congratulations on announcing you know nothing about twin peaks and/or lynch. all of the campy humor is consciously done.
