Vini 430
The answer is not really Children of Men has a very unique atmosphere As far as consistency of amazing cinematography and atmosphere though Tarkovsky still chews up and shits out any modern filmmaker
kaz 2,445
Children of Men is special. I doubt there is a movie cooke is looking for in terms of atmosphere. It doesn't exist.

The pace is so intolerable yet the visuals so good i watched over and over... in multiple sittings... not having the attention span to watch the entire 465637hour film in one go

Although it is much more surrealist than CoM. Tarkovsky was a fucking genius.
madmaltese★ 2,617
American movies, not so much. Apparently Cauron's newest movie Roma is equally great though from a cinematography and atmosphere point of view. Foreign movies however have many examples that match and exceed Children of Men in those regards, mostly Korean cinema. Basically every Chan wook Park film. Then there is examples like Pan's Labyrinth. For America, surprisingly the best cases of amazing cinematography and atmosphere is coming in the TV realm.
