He's got a couple of things working in his favor.

 

He's small, small people simply don't get any many bones broken.  And he's in good shape. Strong muscles provide a stiffer layer of protection around bones and vital organs.

 

Wouldn't surprise me if he becomes dependent on pain killers from this point on.

Major back injuries makes this point moot a bit. Hopefully he's okay though.

apparently he died today, they tried to get him ready for surgery but spliter from his spinal cord caused internal bleeding. RIP
