I played through it a couple times to get grips with the mechanics.

Breath of the Wild is great but it's just Zelda with open world design ripped from existing design all over the industry. It works well but it's just wide scope plagiarism. Super Mario Odessey is just an evolution of things we've already seen in Mario, it was leading to that point anyway. Again a good game but what is Nintendo bringing to the industry? What are they doing that is elevating gaming or helping the industry beyond them? Even their console is just off the shelf parts made into a tablet. They're not revolutionizing anything. Once you figure out how to properly chain attacks the game comes to life and really flows. For people like Jon they also have an assist mode that makes it easier to combo attacks for the more casual gamer just looking to have fun. Nintendo does nothing to drive the industry forward, nothing. They repeat themselves every generation, their strategy is the same every generation, their games are the same every generation. Okay great, and how many dozens of big games has it missed this year and will miss next year? Getting the one off really good exclusive game maybe once or twice a year doesn't offset not getting dozens of AAA and AA multiplatform games.
