They wouldn't have to build even nearly to that scale to compete in game streaming.. let's be honest...  They're a gaming focused company.. at least for the moment.  The thing is.. it would take TIME... and when you have competitors like Amazon, Google, and MS... time really isn't on your side.  You have to act fast or you get left behind.

That's the point, they don't have the ability to scale, they'd get snuffed out immediately.

Sony still has about 7 hours, the PS5 reveal could still happen today!

I don't know how you guys can think streaming isn't going to be the future. It's where the majority of gamers will migrate to, once the service can be delivered. Regardless of how you feel about the s

the other 5% was you deflecting to xcloud and fabricated me begging for Xbox1 games... Yuck!! :scust:then you finally owned yourself by arguing against something you brought up.

Now that you have failed you resort to non posts like the one above... marvelous :rofls:

The type of arguments Gouko is bringing up.. are the types of arguments that butthurt motherfuckers will try to bring to everything you say.  I must have said something really hurtful to now have Gouko on my dick trying to build strawmans and conflate everything I say.

Guaranteed he'll be chiming in any chance he can in the future to make a fucking argument out of nothing :tom:

All he'll do from now on is purposefully misconstrue what I'm saying, and then build his stupid retarded arguments off of it and then try to act like he's won the argument..  That's exactly what butthurt motherfuckers do.  That's how you know they are butthurt.

Azure's R&D and datacenter budget is over $20 billion dollars, per year... Sony has $25 billion total, it's not feasible.

Sony is not wealthy enough to float a venture like this, they'd go broke immediately.

Sony spends over $50 billion annually. And Azure costs that much because it can afford to, the profits are there. MS didn’t plop down $20 billion upfront with  no expectation.

If Sony got into the cloud game they have the means to. But they most likely won’t as it doesn’t make sense for them as a company unless they are planning on being a Cloud provider as well. A lot of companies could get into that service, but it’s not their business model

Because they can spend $50 billion annually doesn't mean they have $50 billion, it means to ensure their operations as they stand now they have to immediately reinvest their gained revenue and cannibalize a lot of their profits.

$20 billion is an annual cost for them and it's no doubt only increasing, that's not a startup cost, that's maintenance, expansion and advancement. What it cost them to actually enter the market no one knows but it was no doubt well beyond their annual spend plus they did it at a time when there really wasn't any competition.

Their cloud revenue is $9 billion per quarter, that means they're theoretically bringing in $16 billion in profit annually. Sony could launch a small scale operation but they wouldn't get any customers and would have wasted billions and subsequently have to shut down, as has been stated repeatedly they are incapable of scaling to meet market demands, regions and expectations.

To enter this market you have to scale to the rough level of your competitors out of the gate, you have to build to their scale and launch. They know this is not possible which is why they are seeking partnership with someone who is already scaled e.g. Microsoft.

If Sony could handle this on their own they would, they are going to be paying Microsoft out the ass for this.

That $50 billion is based on their COGS, they do have that money - even if it is in a cycle of constant reinvestment. The point is that companies operate with far more money than their profit margin or net worth which is what you’ve been pointing to

Your argument was that Sony can not afford it - which is different to it not being a good business strategy for them.

Sony would never need to scale it to the level of Azure to get on an even field for gaming. Azure needs to support millions of businesses and be a premier B2B product across the world. Sony would never be aiming for that

But it would chew into profits and at what benefit? Sony are making billions on PSN, they could create a gaming level solution from those profits alone.  But it would smack their bottom line for something gamers won’t necessarily be paying anything more for. Paying a third party is the better solution unless forced otherwise. I expect both MS and Sony are very happy with the solution

LOL there are definitely people here who want to portray xCloud as Microsoft actually getting in front of the next upcoming gaming trend.

So much so, they actually WANT to wish traditional console gaming hardware to fail. They want to act all Nostradamus on the subject.

So when they can't really prove that streaming will bring in new gamers, they switch the argument to "well, uh......it will steal traditional gamers who are tired of having to buy hardware!!!"

No, it will attract traditional gamers who don't see the value of their hardware platform because the console manufacturer has a piss-poor first and second-party gaming lineup.

Sony and Nintendo don't have that problem.

Acting like xCloud isn't getting in front of the next gaming trend... lmao..  Are you serious?  ROFL..

Nobody wants traditional console gaming to fail... You simply have to face reality man.  Look at movies... look at music.. look at TV...  dedicated physical mediums to play them are going the way of the dodo..  You can stream them anywhere on any device.

They don't need to bring in new gamers.  They've actually talked about penetrating the market of gamers that's already there..moving them to a subscription service is more important than getting even more people gaming at this point... Giving them a convenient option as opposed to buying hardware and games.. they can use the devices they already have.  When they are ready and the service provided is of a sufficient level of quality and acceptance... they simply stop providing the other options.  Then you're FORCED to use streaming.. one way or another.

You're so dumb if you don't see how disruptive this could/will be.  Again.. once the level is of a sufficient quality.. people wont give a fuck anymore.  Just like streaming movies at less than perfect quality instead of buying Blu-rays..  People simply won't give a shit when it's "good enough"... especially new generations of gamers that are already of a different mindset than our generation is about physical media and devices..  They all want their shit on their phones or tablets and TVs.

Ok............I'm looking at streaming technology that is primarily a one-way delivery method that can actually pre-load upcoming information.

Why do you keep comparing game streaming when Music/Movies/TV have advantages that gaming can never have because it has to succeed with low-lag two-way high-speed communication or else it COMPLETELY fails.

Its like building the best console and it completely sucks because the controller cannot communicate effectively with the console.

You're using Music/Movies/TV to help prop up gaming.

Streaming is not going to make more people play Gears..........if Gears is the same ole shit.

Streaming is not going to make shitty games like State of Decay and Sea of Thieves any better.

Streaming is not going to cure what is wrong with the state of Xbox gaming.

It's because that's what the tech enables... that's what it does to disrupt well established industries... cmon man rofl...

The simple fact that you're only thinking about Xbox here gives away your intentions with regards to this subject.  You're not interesting in talking about streaming and the future... you're interested in talking down Xbox and MS..  Get outta here with that lame shit.
