Yes, essential workers should go before elderly people. The fact that most essential workers are minorities is simply a fact. I see nothing wrong with his statement. Also, the numbers show that COVID has disproportionately affected POCs far more than Caucasians.

The elderly people can stay home. Sure if they're in a group setting like a nursing home, then yes they should be first. However, people like EMTs and healthcare workers who deal with sick people on a daily basis and can spread the disease should be first. Attack the spread of the virus by protecting the main vector points. And both of those type of people are in group 1a for the virus as recommended by the panel.

Yes, but if the most at risk of dying are immunized then spreading the virus won't be as deadly. The goal is to stop people from dying, stopping the spread to healthy people is secondary.
