I think I called this phase of Microsoft.........like back in 2019.

 

Right after the Bethesda acquisition, and know what GamePass would be.

 

And once again..........this confirms what we saw when Sega dropped out of the console war.

 

Consoles are what make these companies invest in a wide variety of games. The moment Sega ended the dreamcast, 80% of their portfolio disappeared over the next few years.

 

Xbox has PRETTY MUCH ended their days as a console platform. This is exactly what we are going to see happen to all the other side studios that were in the Bethesda and Activision acquisitions.

 

And the worst part about it is that Microsoft won't sell off those studios or SELL the IP........they'll just sit on it, dormant, forever. Because they don't really care.

 

The Fallout tv show might've given Todd Howard's Bethesda studios an extra five years to stay open.

 

You should be very fearful of Obsidian's future, of Tony Hawk IP's future, at older Activision properties and their future.

 

We will lose video game IPs because they were acquired by Microsoft, after its all said and done. Anybody who cheered that on is a complete fucking moron.

wow, that Tango shut down is insane. After Hi Fi Rush and after publicly saying it exceeded all their expectations.... Also their one Japanese studio after talking about how much they want to enter that market. After they've released nothing but great games. One of the toughest and harhest studio closures I can remember since EA was gutting out dev teams. 

 

Seems to be the final nail in the coffin for many too now. First big true swing against MS from the gaming media in a long time.

Sony's own leak shows their own problems.. and razor thin margins.  They're a house of cards too and you're an idiot if you don't realize that.  If Xbox made better games that more people wanted to play... GamePass could have worked.  All of these issues aren't because Gamepass can't work... it's because of core development issues which MS haven't bothered to fix.

 

The richest company in the world could not sustain gamepass.  No other company will be trying a gamepass like model for videogames for a very very very long time.

Great 1st party games and consistency is what GamePass lacked.  It could have worked.  Yes not every company could have got it off the ground, but that's when you consider the position MS was in, and how terrible their studio management is.

 

I think Sony could be very successful with that model.
