Goukosan 2,257
What's with all this spin? All this baseless speculation of Nintendo also putting games on Xbox are tales from the Ass. Multiple outlets are reporting on the rumor but not ONE has leaked Nintendo putting games on Xbox. That would be a bigger story than Xbox games on Switch. MS is the one who wants gamepass/XCloud on everything they can get including smart TVs..... the end.

Game informer Juex Video Nate Drake Windows Central (I believe) all reported their own information. Point is.... everything else is tales from the Ass.

It has been clear for some time now that MS wants to put their service everywhere they can. They are moving from physical platform to a virtual one and Switch is just another vessel(a big one though) for them to expand their virtual platform and absorb more money. Millions and millions of Switch owners will be absorbed into the MS virtual platform/ecosystem, and will continue to be even after Switch dies. MS is playing the long game here. That's all they care, they don't care if Nintendo games never make it on Xbox. Edited February 23, 2019 by Pureis

They're moving to a service model. But... for some reason... DynamiteCop believes that Nintendo or other manufactures that MS want their service on... has to give MS something in return... when MS is the one that needs the other manufacturers to expand XCloud/gamepass outside Xbox hardware. So he goes on to make up his own rumors Edited February 23, 2019 by Goukosan
jehurey 3,238
Microsoft is the one saying they are openly looking to be on other platforms. Nintendo begrudgingly allowed to make some games for mobile phones, and they were completely different games, they've only made like 3 of them over the past 3 years. If Nintendo were moving their games somewhere else, the rumors would be leaking all over the place.
Playstation Tablet 1,729
So MS launches Halo Infinite and the next XBox. Some parent walks into a store sees an XBox and a Switch will Halo. Someone explain how outside the first year XBox sales arent going to absolutely tank?

I think it will be quite some time before that would possibly happen (in the capacity I want it to, anyway) and Nintendo and MS' partnership would have to slowly grow in such a way that it would prove to be viable and successful for both. I feel like this could be the beginning of it though... After all, Nintendo WAS going to partner with Sony on a console in the past. It all starts with MS courting them, offering them anything they can, and if Nintendo see's benefits from using MS' services and whatever else, then over time as people get used to the idea of the partnership, then something could happen. A lot of words like "could" and "possibly" and "potentially" in there, but the fact that they are even doing what they are already shows that they have an open mind. The other thing is that both MS and Nintendo have undergone key changes in management, and changes in philosophy in regards to approaching the market in a different manner than the traditional way. I feel like both companies are in a position to benefit from this partnership, not just MS.
Playstation Tablet 1,729
Nintendo will never have the capacity to make a streaming service. MS is desperate for hardware to put XCloud on, and there is nothing else like a Nintendo piece of hardware. Plus it's very possibly Amazon and Google could take MS's place if they don't go to Switch first. This is great for next gen PS5 sales though.

Shawn Layden just confirmed that PSNow for them is nothing other than a side option, like PSVR. Believe it or not but Sony isn't going to use the streaming market as their main platform, just like Sony will never again make a dedicated handheld, or Nintendo will never make a purely dedicated console. Different areas of expertise. As for Google, let's wait for GDC to see the Yeti first. We don't know if its going to be an interesting piece of hardware or a streambox level flop. Playstation Tablet 1,729
Also Nintendo and MS are not "teaming up". Nintendo gets a major software boost, marketing boost AKA Halo Infinite on Switch, hardware boost etc. Nintendo hardware grows. MS is flatout sacrificing hardware for service growth. Guess who is going to eat away at MS's hardware base? Sony and Nintendo.

People looking for a traditional powerful console will only have the choice between Sony and Xbox.. that's not changing. It's hilarious how you think nobody will buy an Xbox console now... ROFL Streaming is EXPANDING their potential market... not REPLACING it..

See Halo on Switch and XBox, the first is a hot platform with Mario and Pokemon, and the second is a more expensive brick with less functionality. This is easily going to cost MS hardware sales. They just evaluated that the hardware hit sales hit is a non factor in front of the growth of XCloud. Sony could also have lobbied PSNow on Switch, except it didn't and is not interested in it and never will be.

Playstation Tablet 1,729
The team up concept is a joke when the only hardware sales benifactor is Nintendo. Is MS getting Zelda and Mario? No. Is XBox getting extra functionality from Nintendo? The team up is basically MS admitting the hardware market for them is in their eyes a niche, they need to sustain at best for another gen then flatout bail on.

Explain the benefits for Sony for example approaching Nintendo out bidding MS by putting PSNow on Switch, then releasing its 50+ million budget games like Uncharted, Horizon, God of War, Spiderman for even say 20 bucks. The current cost of PSNow.
Playstation Tablet 1,729
Lemme guess Nintendo are idiots by not teaming up with one of streaming services and selling Zelda for $10 on your refrigerator.
