Once again another perfect visual illustration: Look at the path of the yellow arrows. The LED bulbs in the edge-lit screen will NEVER GET to the LCD layer without re-directing of the light. Basically putting other layers to help the light bounce around all over. Look at the visual representation of the LED and how it exists outside of all of those layers. Now look at the DIRECT-LED, and look where those LED bulbs are at. They are within those layers, and they are clearly shining light in one direction. A reflector exists behind it so that it helps bounce any light that may have spilled back there. No shit you idiot, I said it probably goes up further into the bezel as does the LCD panel itself... I'm fully aware of what the diffuser is and its form.

Crazy how the LEDs are behind everything like that. Even crazier they call it backlighting. Thanks for unintentionally proving us right. Yeah, you're a lost cause. Not like you weren't before or anything. Because it effectively proves that the Edge-LEDs cannot illuminate the LCD layer from where its positioned and "firing" hence its NOT a backlight. 3 minutes ago, lynux3 said: Crazy how the LEDs are behind everything like that. Both of you pretending to play stupid and declare that interpreting such a term in the most obtuse manner possible is your "proof" is rather crazy. And desperate. The LEDs in the edge-lit diagram were OUTSIDE of everything like that. Thanks for still continuing to fail.

Jerry, I'm asking you to just please stop. This is gone on far too long already We've already talked about backlight, and how you guys interpret it obtusely. I've already used the term "Horsepower". You can visually see the LED being OUTSIDE of all of those panels. And, with the DIRECT-LED, you can clearly see the LED being WITHIN those panels. I love how you guys thought you had a genuine glimmer of hope...............boy are you poor bastards desperate.

Something is or it is not, and this 100% for a fact is. You're trying to interpret something which has no ability to be interpreted, it's not subjective, it's not an opinion, it's not up to a differing perspective, and it's not something that can be argued. Edge-Lit LED's are backlit displays.

No it's not because it's an industry term, it's because on the horizontal axis forward to back the LED's are positioned behind the LCD and in conjunction with the reflector, light guide and diffuser broadcast that light forward from the back and through the LCD frontward. It's not because of terminology, it's because of the technology, and because of what is taking place behind the LCD panel...

Edge-Lit LED's are backlit displays. No, they are not. They are edge-lit. that's the most ironic part of all of this..........is that you guys are hanging your entire argument behind the use of the general industry term "backlight" which causes you to forget the term "edge-lit." I'll say it again. You either know what the words "back" and "light" means,or you don't. And you either know what the word "outside" means, or you don't. I even said............for marketing purposes, if Samsung's legal term genuinely believes that edge-lit displays is on the backside the same as direct-lit displays............why don't they call ALL OF IT "direct-lit from the back" displays is they see it as obtusely as you do? Because they'd get sued, and they know it.

No it's not the proper terminology, because you're just making shit up and giving things name, and trying to explain your way out of things you yourself posted which corroborate the fact and function of this display that we've been saying since square one and that you've been in denial over.
