Thats too expensive especially with no compelling software. VR is never going to catch on at this rate.

But with Sony, the customer has the ability to get there step by step.   FIrst step, try and save up money for a PS5 and get one.   Second step, later on, save up to get a PSVR2

That fucking spider level.

That’s a great price for the tech when you consider what Meta is charging for a headset with similar specs.

Eh..  PSVR2 doesn't do anything special outside of foveated eye tracked rendering..  that's mostly software based and done on the PS5.

Basically.. this price isn't mass market level... so they're going to have a tough time convincing people I think.  They need amazing games... and they just announced 11 more... and they're mostly PC ports.. :francis:

It’s a third of the cost of the Quest Pro. This has more of a chance that that overpriced thing and doesn’t support Zuck and his Metaverse bs.

I enjoyed my time owning the PSVR but all in all there weren't that many great games in its library.

PSVR2 would need exceptional games to become something really worth the purchase with that price.

And their peripheral support has always been mediocre to shit, just like with other companies.

It's a flop for now :]

That product is meant for the professional market... its not trying to be a mass market consumer device like the Quest line.

The PSVR2 price is high for the segment its targeting... but its not an outlandish price... its around what I expected.  But again, that's asking a lot in this current economic climate.

We'll see how well it does with the software planned for launch.  It's not looking like anything special though.

Definitely not buying at this price. It's an absolute blunder they haven't already demonstrated Alyx on it. It should be a bundled launch title.

I'm really not interested in VR headset that isn't both standalone and PC compatible. And real talk, every VR maker has got to face the fact that these things are mainly good at porn.

with LESSER specs.

it doesn't have eye-tracking foveated rendering.

and that bodes really bad for the PC VR space if Meta Quest 3 and Valve Index 2 don't have it.

I'll definitely be trying to get my pre-order in.:blessed:

LMFAO eye tracking is in the Meta Quest Pro... and it will be in the Quest 3.  The actual eye-tracked foveated rendering part is done in SOFTWARE... meaning it's not really a hardware cost.  Quest Pro probably doesn't support it... because it's meant for professional use.

And I mean, the Quest Pro actually does the processing in the headset and is entirely self contained... so the better comparison would be the PS5 + PSVR2 price. "Lesser specs" :drake:

And it doesn't bode anything for PCVR... PC GPU horsepower shits on these consoles and they literally don't need eye tracked foveated rendering :tom:

What's really funny is you see most people saying "They need to show Half Life Alyx if they want to have a chance charging that much"  :mj:

No, it does "face tracking" and that almost certainly means an optical image camera.

And No............if you have to do it in the software, it will automatically be too laggy to work.

Sony's eye tracking is going to be using IR reflection, almost exactly like the Wiimote sensors.

They bounce an IR light, which reflects off of your pupils when you are capturing it with an infrared camera.

The reason why is because an IR camera can refresh rates well over 100Hz, which is how they are able to make eye-tracking almost instantaneous, which is necessary for the whole eye-tracking foveated rendering to work. If there's a slight lag, these game reviewers would've pointed it out immediately.

Meta Quest Pro has INFERIOR eye tracking tech.

LOL, no PC GPU horsepower isn't going to do anything in the PC VR space.

You already watched the Digital Foundry video I showed you, they are down on PC VR because Valve is clearly signaling that they are FOLLOWING Meta Quest and designing VR with middle-tier smartphone processing, because they don't see a future in PC-powered VR games.
