The fact people lose their shit when someone says Russia and Ukraine should open a dialogue is very telling. You don't actually give a shit about Ukrainian people. You just want to hurt Russia and make them pay.  Are you willing to sacrifice every able bodied Ukrainian man to do it? That's what a prolonged war will do. It will be a war of attrition, and Russia has 5x the population and 100x the resources. This will not end in Russia saying "Ok time to go home now". You know why? Because it's Putin.

Cooke, answer a simple question: how do you know that any ceasefire will actually end the war? Russia has already proven that they do nothing but lie and aren’t true to their word, they’ve broken numerous agreements like this in the past, and they make no attempt to hide the fact that they don’t believe in Ukrainian sovereignty. Even right now Russia continues to attack to take more territory. Wouldn’t it make more sense to hunker down and defend instead if they really wanted peace? 
 
All the west has done since Georgia is allow Putin to do what he wants and everytime he escalates further. Yet for some puzzling reason you think another act of appeasement like a ceasefire will lead to long term peace.
 
Look at what just happened with the Black Sea grain deal. Putin suspended it and Ukraine and Turkey said fuck it and continued to send ships through. Instead of attacking the ships Putin backtracked and said the deal was back on. 
 
He’s a piece of garbage but he’s not entirely unreasonable when people actually stand up to him. Dictators like him feed on weakness and freezing the war right now would be a sign of that and encourage further Russian aggression.

I just don't see how further escalation is going to end this. Unless NATO actually commits to defending Ukraine and puts that threat on the table, Putin will continue this war for the foreseeable future. And he's willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of people to do it. These half measures of just giving Ukraine equipment isn't going to be enough for them to win. I don't want all out war, and you don't either. The best option is to ATTEMPT to end the war with negotiations and reparations from Russia.

The theater is in the Ukraine. Negotiations means the only side who is compromising would be the Ukraine, the only side winning anything would be Russia.
