IDK how old you are, but im 38, and looking at how kids are now, especially the young ones....its sad. Sure when I was young I played a lot of games and stuff...but id also spend 8 hours in the woods, pretending to be an explorer, or playing hide and seek, riding bikes until the street lights came on and hearing my mom scream my name 10 houses down. Playing kickball and climbing trees. So different from now. Literally it was the Wonder Years.2 points

It started off as such an amazing thing. It still is amazing. Everyone has the ability to use it to become smarter. The answer to every question is 3 seconds away. The knowledge that could be taught to everyone is right there, free. But it has become an extension of peoples personality. Probably in the worst way imaginable. Its become an extension of our existence for the most trivial of reasons. An addiction worse than the hardest drugs out there. A platform for everyone to voice opinions or ideas that should be kept to themselves. Probably the greatest tool to hit hum2 points

I don’t think I’ve ever played an srpg where this wasn’t the case. The whole appeal of the genre is having like 30-40 long important battles rather than 1000 random battles that over in a min. Vc is actually probably the most accessible srpg there is. Stuff like tactics ogre or final fantasy tactics are even worse and more complex involving your issues with vc unless you bring in recent western srpgs which I’m completely unfamiliar with.1 point

I had one too hagaha. It was unactivated and I just carried it to look cool and look at the time. The cringey loser stuff people did when they were younger haha i hated the internet back then because it was slow, used up the phone line and my moms and brother would always bitch for me to get off so they could use the phone. and yeah you’re right at the end/beginning of the century nobody used the internet. What a crazy ass time that’ll never happen again. I enjoy the internet but at the same time I’m glad I grew up in a time where it didn’t exist. These days kids are bo1 point

I remember the first few times I used the internet was I think around 98 or something and my sister would connect me some stranger on some site jsut to chat. And I would ask:"do you know goku from dragonball?" good times, a year later and i'm semi pro in counter-strike. first online matches blew my mind cause it was fun to just tk my own people.1 point

double-edge sword pros: access to information is easier; you can make friends from across the globe and keep in touch with distant loved ones; streaming has changed tv for the better cons: cyberbullying is fucked up (i would not want to be a teen today); many have poor "in person" social skills, due to mainly chatting online; social media warps expectations, making people think their life isn't good enough (when, in fact, it is)1 point

plus, the games are 720p. a $1,000-$2,000 pc for a laggy, 720p experience1 point

Jonboy and his "ownage" "I can play terrible, laggy versions of PS games TCHBO!" But somehow lemons aren't owned when MS releases games natively for Switch.1 point

Am I the only one who legitimately forgets Stadia even exists, until an article pops up. Then I forget again.1 point

to be fair times are either crazier now, or parents are too overly protective. My parents said when they were young they used to walk miles alone with their friends and go to the theatre, go to the park. When I was young I used to do the sane. Nowadays I know parents who won’t let there kids leave the front of there house. there was a study that every generation the distance they allow there kids to travel with their friends is diminished0 points
